YAYI

Project Overview

YAYI is a slow fashion designer based in Puerto Rico, and working with her felt like breathing new life into something already beautiful. Her Shopify theme hadn’t been updated in years, and with all the platform changes that had rolled out since, performance was starting to suffer.

She wasn’t looking for a redesign—she was looking for a reset. A way to bring the site up to speed while keeping the original aesthetic intact. Her direction was clear: this isn’t fast fashion. The site’s purpose is to let clients explore and appreciate the styles, not chase discounts or obsess over pricing.

Objectives

  • Reset the outdated Shopify theme to improve performance and long-term stability
  • Restyle the storefront using her original website as a visual guide
  • Elevate the experience with thoughtful content and updated theme sections
  • Preserve the calm, editorial feel that reflects her brand and her values

Execution Details

  • Shopify theme reset with a focus on performance and backend compatibility
  • Style and layout development based on her previous site
  • Visual adjustments to emphasize imagery and de-emphasize pricing
  • Mobile-first tweaks for a clean, scrollable experience
  • Quick turnaround to meet a tight deadline

The goal wasn’t to change her brand—it was to give it space to shine in a more modern and stable format.

Results

YAYI’s online store now runs on the latest version of Shopify’s framework, styled with the same calm confidence that defines her brand. It’s elegant, intentional, and refreshingly free from distractions—just like her work.

Working With the Client

YAYI is cool, clear, and incredibly intentional. I loved how much she trusted me to interpret her vision while staying true to the essence of her brand. We worked fast, stayed focused, and brought it all together without compromising anything. Honestly? A dream client.
