From Clover to Shopify: A Seamless Migration for Pure Soul
Project Overview
Pure Soul is a lifestyle and clothing store with 15 years of history, rooted in the heart of Old San Juan and spending its summer seasons in Shelter Island, NY. Its bohemian styles are developed in-house by owner and designer Sylma Cabrera, with the help of a small team focused on retail operations and day-to-day tasks.
They needed to unify their operations under a single platform to ensure efficient inventory management, as their online store ran on Shopify while their physical store operated with Clover.
Objectives
The goal of this project was to facilitate the migration and unification into Shopify—making sure the team received proper training both on the shop floor and in the back office. We focused on helping them adopt Shopify’s admin features in a way that would support their daily workflows and long-term growth.
Strategy
We started by taking full inventory of all products—both in-store and in the warehouse—using a methodology I developed, powered by tools I’ve crafted through 15+ years of retail experience.
- We unified the data
- Standardized the format
- Uploaded it all to Shopify
- Trained the team
Results
The result is a fully unified operation on Shopify—ready for growth. The team now runs with new workflows in place, confidently using Shopify’s built-in operational tools. The platform is set up to support future marketing initiatives and business expansion.
Working With the Client
This project was truly special—it brought me back to my days in product development and buying: the supplier calls, fast-paced deadlines, and, most of all, the joy of working among friends. That feeling of looking forward to spending time with your team. Seeing that dynamic within Pure Soul’s operations reminded me why I love retail.
It was also meaningful to work on-site. Visiting the store and commuting into Old San Juan became a ritual I loved. I got used to walking the cobblestone streets early in the morning, before the tourists arrived, while the Pure Soul team showed up—coffee in hand—just in time to unlock the gate and open the shop.
Where They Are Now
Today, Pure Soul has been running on Shopify for over a year, including their first season in Shelter Island with a fully unified system—and the foundation to keep growing strong.
