Honoring Vision Through Design: IBAKARI’s First Website

Project Overview

IBAKARI is an integrative ancestral medicine practice offering holistic services centered on the health and well-being of women and girls. Their work includes guiding clients through deeply transformative experiences such as pre-conception, birth, and postpartum, as well as practices like sobadas and placenta alquimia, where the placenta is processed after birth to be consumed or transformed into art.

They needed a website that could clearly communicate their vision, mission, and services—ultimately helping people connect with their work and book their offerings.

Objectives

  • Create a website that reflects IBAKARI’s deep values and long-term vision.
  • Make it easy for potential clients to learn about the services and book a consultation.
  • Establish IBAKARI’s presence online as serious, professional, approachable, and rooted in care.
  • Ensure the site serves both as a tool for visibility and a reflection of the integrity of their work.

Strategy

Anita, one of IBAKARI’s founders, provided a foundational document: it included the vision, mission, services, pricing, a logo, a color palette, and a folder of photos. From there, the rest was intuitive problem-solving and design rooted in care.

I remembered Anita lying on the floor of my office as she shared her long-term vision—a traditional medicine center guided by her older, wiser self. A space full of rooms and healing, where she moves with purpose, supporting the collective feminine. This was not just a website—it was the first stone in a long and meaningful journey.

Having been cared for by Anita during my own pregnancy, birth, and postpartum—she was my doula, fed me after birth, processed my placenta, and prepared a healing flower bath—I deeply understood the weight and intention behind her work. My job was to honor that and let it guide every design decision.

    Results

The final website is a grounded and clear digital home for IBAKARI’s services and story. Visitors can learn about their practice, meet the team, understand each offering, and easily connect via WhatsApp to schedule a consultation. It invites you not just to book a service—but to join a community.

    Working With the Client

Working with Anita was intimate, grounded, and honest. The clarity she provided upfront allowed me to fully step into the creative process and offer her something aligned with her vision. This project felt personal in the best possible way—because I was not just a collaborator, but someone who had been transformed by IBAKARI’s work.
