Estudio Santos (E.S.) is a design studio founded by architect and interior designer JQS. Her work bridges art and design through handcrafted, functional pieces that reflect Puerto Rican identity, memory, and critique. Known for the Boquetes mirror series (2021), E.S. transforms real potholes from the island’s roads into sculptural objects using 90% recycled materials. Her work explores the intersection of phenomenology, material history, and collective experience. JQS’s latest project, Mancha de Plátano, draws inspiration from a creative act of protest in Corozal, where residents planted banana trees in potholes—turning neglect into a living symbol of Puerto Rican resilience and ingenuity.
